Rob Mac
Brings the soulful sounds of the harmonica to the band with a mixture of rhythm and soul that stirs up feelings of longing and belonging. Rob grew up in Libertyville, Illinois where he scaled the water towers and climbed the trees along the Des Plains river leading to his unique perspectives and powerful expressions.
Gary Chapin
from Fayette, Maine and brings his dedication to French music and l’accordéon diatonique to the band. As the leader of an international accordion orchestra: The Free Reed Liberation Orchestra. Gary brings a sound that lifts the music on the wings of freedom. Learn more about Gary below!
Bobbi Ruth Macdonald
Is a singer songwriter who grew up in Chicago. For as long as she can remember she would sit on the front steps and sing and play guitar. Her songs and music tell stories of growth and change. One moment we are standing, watching the train going by, and the next we are marching in the streets.
Andrew Kutt
Is a musician focused on bringing love and peace to the world. Bobbi and Andrew began jamming together on a long summer night during the pandemic – and from there they began to improvise harmonies and melodies that are still unfolding. You can find more of Andrew’s music on his website, below.
Chicago-born Bobbi Ruth writes authentic, soul revealing music with an alluring voice that reaches into our hopes for what the world can be. Inspired by the music of Pete Seeger, Tracy Chapman, Bruce Springsteen, and Ruthie Foster, Bobbi has been writing songs since she was 10 years old. She and her husband and band-mate, Rob, raised their children in Baltimore for 25 years, where they performed as regulars at Funks Democratic Cafe in Fells Point, and the 4 Hour Day Lutherie.
Bobbi and the Band is an improvisational group of musicians that bring a commitment to listening, learning, and co-creation. With a folklike gypsy jazz kind of sound, they make each song come alive and never do a song the same way twice. Together Bobbi and the Band make a unique soulful vibe and engage the audience, sharing stories along the way. The show is an unforgettable experience.
